Seychelles VISA

Seychelles island

If you are planning a holiday in the Seychelles, you do not need to apply for a visa in advance. As a tourist, you will receive a temporary residence permit directly upon arrival. A passport (with at least 6 month of validity) and a return ticket are enough for a stay of up to thirty days. For longer stays, an authorization is required, which must be applied to the Immigration Department at the Immigration House in Victoria.

The extension of the stay is normally also approved after arrival in the Seychelles. This is first issued for the duration of your holiday in the Seychelles, but can be extended up to three months, if necessary. In some cases, the Immigration office will grant a residence permit of up to one year. Please visit Immigration and Civil Status Department Seychelles website for more details.

Important documents

In order to obtain a temporary residence permit for the Seychelles, you must present some documents upon entry. It is important that the travel document – in this case the passport – is valid until at least the end of the stay in the Seychelles. An ID card is not recognized as a travel document! If you travel a lot, please also make sure that your passport has at least two unused pages.

In addition to the travel document upon entry to the Seychelles a return ticket must be presented. A document confirming the return journey or the departure of the visitors must also be when leaving the Seychelles either by air or boat.

Another document that you’ll need to enter the Seychelles is a hotel reservation. Proof that accommodation has been booked for the duration of the trip is compulsory.

Furthermore, it must be presented that visitors have sufficient financial resources available for the period of their stay in the Seychelles. This amounts to at least $ 150 per day per person.

In order to start your dream holiday in the Seychelles without any inconvenience, you should have these documents on hand at hand.

Additional information

Visa is not required for entry into the Republic of Seychelles regardless of the nationality of the passport holder. However, the local Government has revised a list of countries whose residents will require a VISA to enter the Seychelles. This is more of a health and safety measure prepared in agreement with the course of action of the World Health Organisation (WHO), as part of enhanced precautionary measures to prevent the importation of the Ebola virus into the islands-nation.

These countries are:

  1. Liberia
  2. Sierra Leone
  3. Guinea- Conakry

If you are from one of these countries you should apply for a VISA at least one month prior to your arrival date in the Seychelles. Visit Seychelles Immigration Information for more details on how to apply for a Seychelles VISA.
